PLEASE NOTE: Platform 1 will be CLOSED on Thursday 28th September. Normal opening hours will resume from Friday 29th September. We apologies for any inconveniences this may cause.
We would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU for the beautiful comments, and the massive positive response regarding our closure of Platform 1 on Sunday 15th October. Just wanted to answer a few of your questions which have popped up – YES! The farm is definitely going to stay in the Liebelt family, along with Albert the Guinea Pig, Alice the Pig, Captain the Horse, the cows, the sheep and the rest of our lovely farm animals. The railway memorabilia is also part of the family collection. Liebelt House B&B will still be available for couples and families wanting a night away in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. We are so happy to have made such a positive impact to children (and adults too!) for the last 20 years and THANK YOU all for your ongoing support! #thankyou #closing #lastchance #Platform1
ANNOUNCEMENT: The decision has been made to run our trains for the last time on Sunday 15th October 2017 – end of the October School Holidays. Platform 1 will be finishing on a very high and positive note and we are all so proud to have owned and operated such an extraordinary and successful tourist attraction for over 20 years. MEDIA RELEASE: The end of the October School Holidays will also mark an end to popular Adelaide Hills tourist attraction, Platform 1 Heritage Farm Railway. Platform 1, owned and operated by Glenn and Karen Liebelt of Littlehampton, has been “train lovers heaven” for families and railway enthusiasts for over 20 years. Owner and Train Driver, Glenn says, “We are so proud to have created and run such a great attraction for children and adults alike to enjoy.” Platform 1 is set up on a 70 acre farming property which has been in the Liebelt family for six generations. “I believe it is our own family’s passion for railways and farming which has made Platform 1 so successful.” Since opening in 1996, Platform 1 has received numerous awards for outstanding service in the tourism industry. “The tourism industry has changed an enormous amount since we first opened, and to be able to evolve and grow over the years is thanks to a huge level of imagination, vision and passion.” But, the time has come for Glenn and Karen to close Platform 1 and “hand the reins over” of the property to the next generation, and let them create their own dreams. “25 years ago, my father and I had a dream to build a railway in my parent’s paddock,” says Glenn. “At the time, I could never have imagined it to grow into the extraordinary business it is today.” “This was my dream, and we made it happen.” Although Platform 1 will close mid-October, the property, along with the six generations of farming and railway history will stay in the family. “We are finishing on such a high, and want to give families one last chance to come for a train ride through this beautiful farming property.” Visitors have until Sunday 15th October to head up to the Hills for one last train ride at Platform 1.
Spring sunshine, green grass, train rides and farm animals!!! Platform 1 will be reopening 10am Friday 1st September 2017. We look forward to seeing you all soon! #reopening #Springtime #Adelaidehills #Plaform1 #trains
