School Groups:

Take your class on an excursion to Platform 1 Heritage Farm Railway. Because we are a family owned and operated business we can cater to your classes individual needs. Is your theme for the term farm animals, transport, environment or "paddock to plate"? We can theme a visit to suit the research that your class has done.

Platform 1 Heritage Farm Railway offers 2 options for School Groups. Either a "paddock to plate" programme or what we call our "train and animals" programme.

Just remember, whatever your theme/topic is, we can steer our discussions/activities towards that theme and to the age group of the children.

Option 1 - Paddock to Plate.

Learn about the food chain. Collect or prepare the ingredients for pancakes. Collect the eggs, grind the wheat, make the cream and then enjoy eating the pancakes!!

Walk out into the paddock and discuss and learn about the soil, grass, and waterways. Learn about water and how important it is to the health of the soil, find out how hay is made and why it is so important to have healthy grasses to feed to animals, learn some basic animal husbandry and much much more.

Children can even have a go at cow horn blowing!
